PRAZZER- CENDRAWASIH BIRD


Paradise bird widely spread in eastern Indonesia, especially Papua, Ternate, AruIslands, several small islands around it, and also in Papua New Guinea, Australia,and adjacent islands.

1980 Papua WWF says there are 48 species of paradise in the region, but due to the encroachment of forest conversion is limited in the & .. Well-known speciesinclude: Paradisaea apoda, Paradisaea minor, Cicinnurus Regius, and Seleucidismelanoleuca.

Beautiful coat primarily found on male paradise. Generally, the feathers are verybright with a combination of black, reddish brown, orange, yellow, white, blue, green,even purple.

These birds live alone in the mountain valleys of tropical forests and the usualnesting high above the canopy of large trees. The size of an adult male about 46inches to the tail. When the wings spread, large birds can reach 61 cm from tip to tip.

Paradise Females usually lay eggs 2 eggs, hatching and rearing their own children.Female bird feathers and pale children and they gathered in a flock so as not to be disturbed enemy.

Paradise classified as omnivores to eat fruit, seeds, insects, snails, and smalllizards. The entire species is protected since 1931 by the Wildlife Protection Act th.1931.

Because of the proliferation arrest, logging, oil palm plantations, timber & searchgaharu in the forest, these birds are threatened with extinction. Even in YapenWaropen, an area that has been the center of their habitat, already hard to find this bird. According to Regional Director of WWF Sahul Papua, Benja V Mambai.

Laurentz National Park there are 20 types of paradise, but lately no longer visible. In Jayapura, especially in the mountains of Cyclops & Mamberamo, there are 18 typesof paradise, but now no longer found.
