Gouda Cheese Will Taken to Space

Gouda Cheese, one of the old cheese from Holland will take part in space missions by Dutch astronaut, Andre Kuipers. Kuipers will carry this cheese in the spaceship mission for 6 months.

This type of Gouda, Old Amsterdam Aged Gouda, the Netherlands is a type of old cheese are popular. A hard cheese with a bright yellow color will be brought Dutch astronaut, Andre Kuipers into space. In a mission called Prom ISSE. In this mission there will be 30 types of experiments that includes a variety of disciplines ranging from technology to solar research.


Perhaps a request to bring this sounds weird cheese. But the Netherlands is famous for its cheese Goudanya and Old Amsterdam Aged Gouda is a cheese penyabet several times gold medal award.

Astronauts allowed to ask for special food requests will be taken. Kuipers request is supported by a cheese company who felt proud of the products taken into outer space.

To prepare the Gouda cheese is like a complicated preparation necessary for the preparation of food astronauts. Cheese is cut and packaged in 9-wrapped airtight container to keep them comfortable after saving a year (without refrigerators in space).

Cheese will be brought from the Netherlands to Michigan to Texas with a last stop in Kazakhstan before entering the International Space Station, the Russian space flight. As noted HuffPost, this cheese will be enjoyed Kuipers with fellow astronauts from Russia.
