Fog lights on at night and motorists often done because it looks nice at night. But in a study mentioned, fog lights at the wrong time, when the weather is relatively bright it caused many accidents.

UK insurer Swiftcover agency in a press release states, due to misuse of fog lights 300 000 accidents occurred during the year 2011.

The study also mentions that one of five riders let the fog lights on because they feel less bright headlights.

14 percent of people surveyed say using fog lights make the car look more cool.

"Young driver who tried to look cool with fog lights so irresponsible and dangerous to other motorists," said Chief Robin Reames Swiftcover.

"Fog lights are designed specifically for a particular purpose. That helps the driver when visibility is less. Abuse and blinding fog lights can interfere with other riders, as seen in our results," he said.

Then how to turn on fog lights right? Reames said if you can see 100 meters ahead the fog lights should be turned off.
